Q&A: Eye Cancer!?

Question by Elyse: Eye Cancer!?
I have pink eye correct now so thats why i'm asking this question!

If somebody gets pink eye atleast when a month for a year and a half now don't you believe she ought to have it checked for something much more serious, like cancer or tumors? I mean it began with my proper eye, but the last two times i got it in my left eye too! My doctor just looks at my eye and prescribes me medicine! I have been performing study and want to get tested for something far more severe, but my mom thinks the doctor is a saint...what really should i do?

Tumors in your eye don't cause a bacterial infection to reoccur. Nevertheless, your lack of immunity is trigger for concern.

  1. Pink eye is very contagious, and you are probably contaminating your healthy eye when washing you face or not washing your hands enough.
Eye cancer is usually a form of melanoma and often caused by ultraviolet rays. Do yourself a favor and wear sun glasses all the time you are outside.
When is the last time you had a blood test ? Maybe your metabolism needs examining.
    Best of luck!

  2. Pink eye is an infection and you can spread it or you are getting it from someone. Eye cancer is just not as simple. What research have you done?
    cancer.org gives this information:

    How Is Eye Cancer Diagnosed?

Diagnosis of Melanoma of the Eye

Symptoms: Patients with eye cancer may have:

    decreased ability to see
floaters (spots or squiggles drifting in the field of vision) or flashes of light
visual field loss (losing part of your field of sight so that instead of seeing all around, you only see part of what is around you)
a growing dark spot on the iris
a change in position of the eyeball within its socket
    bulging of the eye
a change in the way the eye moves within the socket
None of this has to do with pink eye, chill out you are probably OK.
Viral pink eye is highly contagious. Viral pink eye usually resolves in seven to ten days after symptoms appear. Medicinenet.com
